Was advocate SK Garg given a clean chit by the Panchkula Police under pressure?
Nobody is above the law including lawyers. But was a clean chit given to advocate Garg by the Panchkula Police under pressure in a property dispute case?

Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association (PHHCBA) on Monday blasted the Haryana Police for registering a case against advocate SK Garg Narwana and others over an alleged fraud involving crores of rupees on the complaint of a citizen.

From abstaining from work to meeting Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the association's members even appealed to Bar Associations across Haryana and Punjab expressing their solidarity with advocate Garg. However, on Khattar's personal assurance, they withdrew their strike call.

Within hours of Khattar's assurance, the Panchkula Police gave a clean chit to SK Garg. But the million dollar question being asked in political, administrative and media circles is that whether a clean chit was given under pressure of the Bar Association!

The police takes months in an investigation. The accused is summoned to the police station for investigation and if needed, arrested for custodial interrogation. But here, the police acted in utter haste. SK Garg is a prominent lawyer and had shot into headlines for representing Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. Despite conviction, Ram Rahim still enjoys considerable clout in the corridors of power. Panchkula Police has  not even summoned Garg for joining in investigations.

The executive committee of the Punjab and Haryana Bar Association in a resolution "strongly" condemned the registration of FIR against Garg saying, "On perusal of the FIR the Bar Association feels that the same has been registered in most causal and callous manner by the investigating agency for the reasons best known to it."

Again, the million dollar question arises is that, why a case was registered against Garg? If the case is false as alleged by the Punjab and Haryana Bar Association, then those responsible for registration of the case must be prosecuted for tarnishing the image of a prominent lawyer.
