My brief stint at IIM Indore
As the descent of the aircraft was initiated by the crew, I could see a city well illuminated with thousands of lights, showing signs of a developing city, which proves its name "Mini Mumbai". Yes, I am talking about Indore, which is considered as the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh.

After picking up my baggage, I embarked on my journey towards the one of the most prestigious institutes of the country "Indian Institute of Management, Indore".

Although the roads were bumpy, we could reach the institution faster due to moderate traffic on the roads. Simple & stylish gate at the entrance welcomed me with a swing. The IIM staff were so cordial & helped me identify different locations of the campus. Finally, I landed in room no. 309 (the room allotted to me - numerology had no role here!) of the Executive Residence-II.

The room was spacious and well maintained. With the sumptuous dinner offered, I slumbered the night away. As the dawn broke, when I unveiled the curtains to get a sight of the place, the divine sight of "Shivling", outside the campus, kindled my spiritual feelings. The institution built on a hillock made the entire view picturesque. When I opened the window, the cold breeze (unpolluted) swept my cheeks and gave me goosebumps.

With an idea to explore the campus, I gave a head start early in the morning and was amazed to see the clean and green environment. For a city dweller like me, this was a refreshing experience because it is next to impossible to feel the fresh unpolluted air in a city like Chennai. The peaceful and serene environment surrounded by greenery all around (well-maintained, I should say!) made me feel blissful. To listen to the chirping of birds or to witness the opening of flower bud or to see the glitter of the sun shine, I neither have time nor place in the hustle bustle of the city. All these were possible now.

With a feeling of rejuvenation, I entered the classroom of the prestigious institution, to board the boat to sail in the field of management. As the days passed by, I felt enriched by insights on the different dimensions of business & management. Each and every faculty had their unique style of teaching and I wondered on the clarity of thoughts and thoroughness of the subject possessed by each of them. To add a divine touch to the knowledge gained, the institute had also arranged a trip to the two jyothirlingas, namely Mahakaleswar and Omkareswar, which was a memorable trip.

Sports complex has gym facility with latest equipment for fitness freaks, Olympic size swimming pool which inspired me to learn swimming and some facilities like tennis court etc. I am grateful to NTPC for making me attend this company sponsored training programme, which gave me a chance to interact with the professors of the cream of the management institutes & experience the heavenly life at IIMI.

IIMI is instrumental in developing thousands of socially conscious managers, leaders and entrepreneurs every year. This training has also made me interact with other members of NTPC family.

Finally, to conclude, I would say a world class hospitality was provided by the institute. On the 10th day, ie the concluding day of the training programme, I started my journey back to Chennai, with a heavy heart waving good bye to the institute. Looking forward for more such programmes.
