Micro-learning coupled with short videos is efficacious for special education trainees: Research study
In the present times of smart-phone wielding teachers and students, short academic videos on short learning episodes can be officious for diverse learners by providing scope for face-to-face and interactive learning, suggests a research report accepted for an upcoming conference on disability education being organized by Disha in Jaipur from November 9 to 11.

The study done through the methodology of pedagogical experiment by Dr Lalit Kishore, suggests that the teacher-made short academic films coupled with revision and face-to-face interaction and analysis of the visual content can be effective instead being the consumer of ready-made or online videos.

The study done on pupil teachers of special education revealed that the short films with three elements determine the instructional quality of micro-learning based short academic films which are brevity in terms of time slot; granularity in terms of short content, and variety in terms of coupling it with face-to-face methods with analysis.

"Only teacher scripted and made short videos on small learning episodes can be accommodative of diverse learners since they provide the scope for pace and style of learning through face-to-face analysis and revision with remedial feedback," said the researcher at Disha.

He added, "The three essential characteristics of micro-learning, namely, brevity, granularity and variety provide the framework for the intrinsic production and process validation of short films. These essentials were taken care of in the short academic film for the present pedagogical experiment."

According to researcher, the implication the study is that teachers should be trained in script writing in lieu of out-dated lesson plans and produce short micro-learning based academic films so accommodate diverse learners in classroom instruction.
