Mexican man living with a fake American ID pocketed $360,000 in 37 years
In a shocking revelation, a person has claimed to have been able to pocket about $361,000 using a fake identity.

This Mexican citizen used a fake ID claiming that he was an American citizen. What makes this even more shocking is the fact that he did not use it for a day or two but for 37 years and went undetected until now. The person has been identified as Andres Avelino Anduaga. The 66-year-old man has pleaded guilty in front of a court that was hearing his case.

As per reports, the man is a resident of Tijuana, Mexico. He had been successful in obtaining a fake birth certificate on the basis of which he acquired a fake identity by the name of a Texas resident named Abraham Riojos. Not only this, he was even able to obtain a driver's license from California.

In April 2015, his eligibility for government benefits was being reviewed (a regular practice in the United States) and during background checks, his fake identity was busted.

The money that he has been able to pocket was all in the form of benefits including Medi-Cal, food stamps and Supplemental Security Income benefits. This began in 1989 and till 2016, it continued undetected. And during this, he had received $361,000 in the form of the benefits.

When the police started investigation the case, they were also able to find the real Abraham Riojos who resides in Florida. So what is next for Anduaga? Well, one that he faces charges that can land him in jail for 12 years and he is also supposed to return the whole money that he has taken in the form of benefits from the government. While he has reportedly agreed to pay back the amount, but escaping from punishment seems unlikely.
