Merinews CJ's work gets noticed on internet videos' search site as a part of video journalism
The video journalism related work of citizen journalist of Dr Lalit Kishore is being listed on the website 'musicjinni' since it related to short academic talks and travelogues.

I was told by one my relatives that my work was viewed on the foregoing search website dedicated to videos, songs, music and many more visual artwork products. I was informed about the video titled "Inclusive Education Process: A Talk by Dr Lalit Kishore" and "Halong Bay: Basic Information". The visuals about these two journalism pieces can be seen on one of home pages of the site as shown in the inset picture.

In fact, video journalism started in 1960s in the USA and the reporters were assigned the journalistic tasks of writing and shooting their own stories without using heavy electronic news gathering (ENG) equipment, artificial light and television studios.

With the digital camera and smart phone cameras video journalism makes it possible for videographers to document any event while it is still occurring or can be structured for on spot short talks and descriptions as small bytes.

The idea of education and training of video-journalists, using a small handy camera which was invented by Michael Rosenblum in 1988, gained currency very soon in the 1990s. These days, many news channels hire only trained video journalists.

However, with the availability of YouTube, social media and mobile cameras, video journalism has become accessible to all and many citizen journalists have started reporting events of various hues through short videos. As far as the academic and informative videos require editing and captioning. This can be done with free download of software as a cost-saving measure.

The recent growth in video journalism has been promoted by digital video technology and falling costs of the camera. Consequently, in the social media, with a camera of reasonable quality and simple non-linear editing system anyone can become a video-journalist with a bit of self-education.
