Leaders greet Nagaland on its 54th Statehood Day; President Kovind inaugurates Hornbill Festival
President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Nagaland for Hornbill Festival and greeted people of people of the state on their 54th Statehood Day on December 1.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also greeted the people of Nagaland saying, "On the occasion of their Statehood Day, I convey my greetings to the people of Nagaland. This state is blessed with immense natural beauty and industrious citizens. I pray that the state scales new heights of development in the times to come."

Nagaland chief minister, TR Zeliang while greeting people in his message, recalled that it was on December 1, 1963 that the second president of India, Dr S Radhakrishnan had formally declared Nagaland as the 16th state of the country at Kohima.

"Today, as we celebrate Nagaland Statehood, I appeal to the citizens of Nagaland to join hands to make Nagaland a great and prosperous State" it added.

He wished the citizens of Nagaland peace and prosperity and prayed that the state scale new heights," he said in a released message.

He added, "I also take this opportunity to welcome the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind to the 'Land of Festivals' and 'Falcon Capital of the World'."
