Jaipur all set for Holika Dahan this evening
In Jaipur, different localities have made arrangements for Holika Dahan this evening and tomorrow the festival of colours Dhulandi will be celebrated with gusto in which foreign tourists in the city will also participate.

In our locality, Jai Jawan Colony in Jaipur, Holika Dahan has been planned to be held between 6 and 8 pm. For worship, residents will keep on flocking for doing family level worship. When sizable crowd will get gathered, the bonfire will be lit with singing and distribution of sweets.

As usual, for worshipping, people will bring a bowl of water, beads made of cow dung, wheat, rice, roli, dhoos, camphor, moli, green gram, batasha, sugar candy, coconut and Gulal powder. Often, harvested crops of wheat and gram are used during the puja ceremony and they are roasted in the fire and eaten.

Holika Dahan, also known as Chhoti Holi, is marked with bonfire as holy pyres on streets, public places and open spaces to bid adieu to winter and celebrate the victory of good over evil.

After the sunset, during an auspicious period decided by local priests, people worship fire by lighting up the holy bonfire and sing and dance around it and also perform parikrama, taking rounds around the fire.

"Holika Dahan signifies that by burning negativities and attachments, we set ourselves free to embrace love and amity for all," said a resident of my locality.
