India's tour of South Africa 2017-18: Don't expect miracles but we can still leave a mark; see complete schedule
Team India, under the dynamic leadership of captain Virat Kohli, is all set to play 5 Tests, 6 ODIs and 3 T20Is on the bouncy tracks of South Africa in their upcoming tour.

The past year has been a fruitful one for Virat Kohli-led Indian cricket team. But after thrashing Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka on its homeland, it's now time for the Indian cricket team to take the challenge on bouncy South African pitches.

Although, last year Team India showed tremendous potential when they beat teams like Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka at home, but now the challenge is entirely different. It is very difficult to beat South Africa on their home soil for any team.

Basically, the hard core Indian supporters are relying on the leadership qualities of their skipper. Also, with new entrants like Bumrah, the bowling squad appears to be having reasonable composition. Obviously, after beating Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka, the morale of our boys is high. In fact, I personally believe that we have got nothing to lose. Not expecting any miracle, I simply believe that in case our team plays with focused and determined mindset and is able to maintain the coordination and rhythm, the possibility of winning a couple of matches cannot be ruled out. Even a few drawn matches will prove to be a gain for Team India.

But here lies a catch. To register a win in South Africa, Kohli's squad needs to give its 100 per cent in every sphere of the game viz fielding, bowling and batting, that too, like one integral unit, determined to give a robust and outstanding performance. Frankly, the contributions from Kohli, Rahane and Pujara will count the most. Likewise, Shami and Ishant Sharma will need to show their experience during this tour. Fielding also needs to improve in order to match-up with South Africa.

Although the statistics do not favour India, but then, the game of cricket is full of surprises. Our boys are going through a good phase and there is no shortage of enthusiasm. In the meanwhile, we are all sitting with our fingers crossed.
