Indian skipper Virat Kohli named ICC Cricketer of the Year 2017
Despite losing the first two matches and the ongoing 3-match Test series against South Africa, a bit of respite came for the Indian skipper Virat Kohli who was named ICC cricketer of the Year 2017.

Kohli has rightfully earned this owing to his meticulous performance during the last year. He scored 2203 runs in Test matches at a brilliant average of 77.80, including 8 centuries.

Likewise, he also gave a sparkling performance in ODIs by accumulating 1818 runs last year with a glorious average of 82.63 scoring 7 centuries.

Even in T20Is he has a pretty good strike rate of 153, with a total of 299 runs scored.

Although lately he has been facing a lot of criticism but cricket is a team game and unless everyone contributes with total commitment, Kohli-led Team India can't even draw a match in South Africa, let alone winning.

I am an optimistic person and intend to highlight that contrary to the expectations of many, our bowlers have proved their worth and in case our batsmen compliment their bowlers by performing well in the rest of the tour, the task might seem difficult but isn't impossible.

In the meanwhile, we must appreciate the hard work and perseverance displayed by Kohli and should not underestimate Kohli's great cricketing skills.
