GES 2017: Ivanka Trump reaches Hyderabad to attend summit; Telengana govt spent over Rs 500 cr on her visit
Telangana is hosting the three-day Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017, in the state capital Hyderabad from November 28-30 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) and Hyderabad International Trade Expositions (Hitex).


The brand image of Hyderabad is rising day by day giving the city the reputation of being a hub for startups. This huge event is definitely a boon for cementing the image of Hyderabad at global level. Since the summit focuses on women entrepreneurs, it has been themed as "Women First, Prosperity for All".

Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump, who is also a senior White House adviser will be leading a delegation of officials as well as American entrepreneurs. The delegation includes 1,200 young entrepreneurs, mostly women. According to officials, the youngest person attending the meet is only 13. The summit is an opportunity for improving bilateral ties between United States and India, since it is being co-hosted by both countries.

Ivanka Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the annual summit which is being held in India for the first time. Ms Trump arrived in Hyderabad in the early hours of Tuesday to participate in the summit.

The state government of Telangana has made elaborate arrangements for the global meet. More than ten thousand security personnel have been deployed for maintaining law and order during the summit. Hyderabad has been virtually turned into a fortress with the police imposing traffic restrictions and asking schools in the city to remain shut.

A special dinner has also been arranged in honour of Ivanka Trump at the famous Falaknuma Palace where hundred special guests would dine on the Nizam era dining table along with Ivanka and Prime Minister Modi. Another 1500 guests would attend the dinner hosted at the lawns of the palace.


In the meanwhile, there is buzz in the Telugu media that the state government has spent over Rs 500 crore on Ivanka Trump's visit. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) mostly spent the money on laying new roads and footpaths; road repairs and painting dividers in yellow and black.
