Fresh notification for filing GST returns
The Ministry of Finance has revised the dates for providing the details in Form GSTR 1, GSTR 2, and GSTR-3 for the months of July and August, 2017. It has also notified date for filing Form GSTR-3B. Such notifications came into force from 8th August, 2017.
As per the Notification No. 18/2017 – Central Tax, Notification No. 19/2017 – Central Tax and Notification No. 20/2017 – Central Tax, for July 2017 GSTR-1, GSTR-2 and GSTR-3 will have to be filed between September 1st and 5th, September 6th and 10th and September 11th and 15th respectively. For August 2017, GSTR-1, GSTR-2 and GSTR-3 will have to be filed between September 16th and 20th, September 21st and 25th and September 26th and 30th 2017 respectively.
GSTR-1 shows the details of outward supplies (sales), GSTR-2 shows the details of inward supplies (purchases) and GSTR-3 is the Monthly Return.
The original dates for filing GSTR-1 was 10th of next month, of GSTR-2 was 15th of next month and of GSTR-3 was 20th of next month. The same has been revised for the initial two months under new GST regime.
As per CGST Rules, where the time limit for furnishing of details in Form GSTR-1 and Form GSTR-2 has been extended, the Commissioner may, by notification, specify that return shall be furnished in Form GSTR-3B. Date for filing GSTR-3B has been notified under Notification No. 21/2017 – Central Tax. For July 2017, it is 20th August and for August 2017, it is 20th September.
Thus, it can be seen that government is trying to ease out the new GST environment so that businesses can make themselves handy with GST Returns.
