Delhi police raids Rohini ashram in Delhi where women were being kept in 'animal-like' conditions
A day after the horrible condition of an ashram in Delhi's Rohini came out, reports have suggested that the case will now be probed by the CBI.

This comes after the media exposed how more than 100 females including some minor girls were locked up behind metal doors in the Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya ashram and forced to live in extremely inhuman conditions.

The CBI investigation was ordered by the Delhi High Court against the ashram as well as it founder Virender Dev Dixit. The court has asked the CHI to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) which will now probe the case.

It has been reported that within the fortress like ashram, women were being sexually exploited. A case of suicide from within the ashram has been reported as well. FIRs against the ashram had been registered in the past as well. The court appointed panel that also consisted of the Delhi Commission of Women Chief, had raided the ashram premises and discovered the inhuman conditions of the females.

The court had earlier appointed an inspection panel to appraise it of the realities of the ashram. The inspection panel reported the inhuman conditions of the inmates and also reported that the inmates seemed to be drugged.

As per a report in the Times of India, the ashram staff had even locked up the inspection members for more almost an hour when they had gone to inspect the building. The court has also ordered that the legality of the building in which the ashram was hosted must also be probed and that if any illegality is found, necessary action be taken.

The harsh realities of the ashram were brought to light by an NGO that had filed a PIL in the court informing it of the conditions of inmates that are kept in the ashram.
