Amazing Universe: Black hole discovered with mass equivalent to 800 million Suns
Even if everything else stops amazing us, the space will never. Here is a discovery like never before: A super massive black hole that has the mass of 800 million Suns. Yes, you read that right, eight hundred million Suns.

And comparatively, it is not that old, as per the research, and was formed just 690 million years after the Big Bang. Add to that the fact quasars are really rare, as per researchers, there will not be more than a hundred of them (at this distance with such brightness) and it's really difficult to locate them. This one has been named as J1342+0928. And the black hole that has been recently discovered is at the centre of this quasar.

According to the researchers, the black hole that powers this quasar holds about 800 million Suns' worth of mass. And it has surprised the researchers, as obtaining such an amount of mass in relatively such a short span of time is not usual.

Not only are quasars the brightest objects known, they are also the most distant celestial objects that have ever been discovered. This black hole has a redshift of 7.54. Redshift is the measurement of how much the wavelength of a black hole's light is stretched by the expansion of the Universe before it reaches Earth.

Researchers are hoping to find more conclusions from this discovery as it was formed when the Universe was just 5 per cent of its present age. While that is yet to be known, researchers are more focused on how this black hole gained such a huge mass in such a short span of time, a fact that might go against the many well accepted theories concerning black holes.
