Actress Xiao Sun works with Stan Lee on new animated project
As an actress, Xiao Sun experiences different lives with every new project she takes on; that, she says, adds color into her life. By playing an evil character that is totally different than herself, she has fun.

With each new role, she learns something new about humanity, and meets interesting people from all over the world. She connects with her characters, and because of this, she doesn't feel like she is working, she feels like she is living. That is why she loves what she does as an actress, and her passion translates into what viewers see on screen.

Sun is an in-demand actress in her home country of Canada and internationally. Known for her work in films such as Mother!,Anna, and X-Men: Days of Futures Past, Sun's versatility is evident in everything she does. Whether working in comedy or drama, she knows how to captivate an audience.

Canadian audiences were enthralled by Sun in the 2016 French flick Les 3 P'tits Cochons 2 (The 3 L'il Pigs 2). The sequel to the very popular film Les 3 P'tits Cochons, the movie follows Rémy. He is always between two planes, and travels to Shanghai on business. During this trip, he takes the opportunity to cheat on his wife Dominique, first with a woman, then with a man. Upon his return, she puts him out after showing him many compromising photos of his Asian aspirations.

With Sun's help, Les 3 P'tits Cochons 2was the highest grossing Canadian film at the box office in 2016. In the film, she plays Mikou, a young woman that falls in love with Rémy while he's on a business trip in Shanghai. She's attractive, wealthy, naïve and extremely intellectual. Sun opened the film in one of the most pivotal scenes of the movie, setting the course for the story.

Sun thoroughly enjoyed working on the comedy alongside Director Jean-François Pouliot, one of the most highly respected comedy directors in Canada. His work has won numerous awards in North America and he has directed some of the highest box office movies in Canada. Acting with Paul Doucet, who plays Rémy, was another highlight for the actress. The teamwork led to great reviews from audiences around the country, being hailed as "the film of the year in Canada" by the media. Sun, however, thinks the film's greatest success was the opportunities it gave Asian actors.

"This film gave ethnic actors important parts, and let an Asian actor open it. Representation is extremely important in movies nowadays, and I was glad to be a part of a film that celebrated this," said Sun.

As Sun is trilingual, speaking English, French, and Mandarin, she has endless of opportunities for worldwide audiences to appreciate her talent. She has many exciting projects coming up, including another comedy, Flarsky, where she appears alongside Academy Award winner Charlize Theron and fellow Canadian Seth Rogan.

Sun also recently worked on her first animated project, executive produced by none other than Stan Lee, the creator of many beloved Marvel characters. Sun, who has always been a big fan of both Marvel and Lee, was very excited to work on Panda Vs. Aliens.

"I have done a lot of narration and voice for video games, but this is my first time doing voice acting for an animated film. I was super excited, because I love voice acting. I feel it has no limitations. You don't have to worry how you look, no need to worry about lighting, no need to worry if you have walked to your mark, you just walk into the sound proof room, put on your mic and live the character," said Sun. "Plus the images of the characters are so cute."

Panda Vs. Aliens is about pandas battling aliens in outer space, featuring the voice of all-star comedian and actor Chevy Chase. Sun voices Cindy, a sassy, courageous and determined Panda. Her mission is to help Pandy, the main character, fight the aliens. Without her help, Pandy may not succeed.

"The story is very encouraging. It sets a good example for young kids and teaches to never give up. Nothing is impossible," she said.

Panda Vs. Aliens will have a wide theatrical release in both North America and China in Summer 2019. The producer of the film, Steve Chicorel, was so impressed with Sun that he also cast her to star in his upcoming movie, an untitled ancient Chinese detective flick. Be sure to keep an eye out for both films.
